FBF in NYC!
Fly By Fashion made their way down to the Big Apple, New York City for another trade show and participated in many team bonding and learning exercises. In NYC, our team competed in the Youth Business Summit sponsored by HSBC. In New York, we had many networking opportunities in the city, a full-group trade fair with students from around the world at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, and for some students, a business challenge and presentation in Brooklyn at Long Island University
TRADE FAIR: The fiscal data Fly By Fashion accumulated from the trade fair made up to approximately $150,000 in package sales and 4 of our members competed in the Youth Business Summit.
WHO WE MET: Luckily, our team had the opportunity to talk to former SNL producer Lindsay Shookus and got to hear about all of her amazing accomplishments and expertise in the entertainment and entrepreneurship fields! Another impressive individual we had the chance to meet was Alexis Greenauer, the marketing executive for the MLB. Alexis gave us an in-depth understanding of marketing and what it takes to work for such a large organization. Along with these successful women, we talked with Chelsea Orcutt, an executive at Thirty Madison. Thirty Madison is the patient-first health company bringing specialized care and treatment to people with chronic conditions. Chelsea talked about her various experiences in her field and gave us insight into her career progression. Our team also met with our school’s former Vice Principal, Julie Wojick, who talked with us about leaving the education field to start her own furniture business! After meeting with so many successful women, the members of Fly By Fashion left NYC with a greater understanding of various fields of business. Fly By Fashion would like to thank all of these people for taking time out of their busy schedules to educate our team on their jobs!
WHERE WE WENT: Fly By Fashion visited the Midtown Area such as Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and Fifth Avenue. One of our groups visited the new Broadway Museum. Our first night in New York, we went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant and took full advantage of their karaoke. Our group attended a Soul Cycle class early Monday morning. On Tuesday, members participating in the Global Innovation Challenge spent the day competing and others spent time planning and setting up booths for the trade fair at the convention center. On Tuesday evening, the group attended the Yankees game vs. California Angels. Our last day, Wednesday, Fly By Fashion spent the entire day participating in the International Trade Exhibition at Javits Center. Throughout these four days, our team made many stops at the big tourist spots in New York City like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square shopping, and visiting various memorials.
Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this as successful as it was and to everyone who played a role in making trip happen! Fly By Fashion cherishes trips like these for the development of this company and for giving up the ability to become a close-knit team! Thank you!
