Los Angeles 2024
Fly By Fashion flew from Buffalo, NY to Los Angeles, California on March 5th, 2024, and returned on March 11th, 2024.
Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, we had to reschedule our trip from December 2023 to March 2024. We still all had a great time, and it was a good way for our team to bond! Although we missed our trade fair we still did things to connect our visit to learning about fashion and business.
On our first day, the Fly By Fashion team had a great day touring the Warner Bros studio and some of the team even got to meet the actor Iain Armitage best known for his role as Young Sheldon. That night we split into senior and junior groups to eat dinner at Craig’s LA and Gracias Madre.
Day two we headed to Malibu for a walk on the beach at El Matador State Beach and some shopping at Malibu Country Mart. The weather was nice and sunny in the morning and a little rainy in the evening but that didn’t stop us from exploring. That night we headed to Hollywood and we got to walk the Oscars Red Carpet because I would start 3 days later. We ended the night at Mel’s Drive-In.
Fly By Fashion rode the waves on the third day of our trip. Some of our team took the chance and had the opportunity to take surf lessons at Poseidon Surf Shop. We took the lesson from Bronwyn Major, owner of Bolsa Chica Designs and women entrepreneur. Later we headed to Beverly Hills to walk around and see all the designer stores. We had dinner at Mon Ami with Rob Best and ended the night with one of our Hollywood night tours.
On the fourth day of our trip to California, the team departed for the Malibu Country Mart where we met the owner of Alma Mater footwear, Bea Gomez Martinez. We left there and went to the Los Feliz Flea at Vintage Land where we all found some pretty good things.. even some vintage Coach! After we ended up at the Griffith Observatory and we got beautiful pictures of the sun setting.
Sunday, the team’s last day in California. We checked out of The Garland Hotel and headed to our mass at the Church of the Good Shepherd. After church, we drove to the Universal City Walk for some fun and shopping before we had to leave. The team split up again into the Senior and Junior Groups and flip-flopped the first dinner places from the first day! We were tired and sad to leave but we finally had to say goodbye to LA.
Our team had a great time the five days we were in California. We were all hoping for a trade show, but to make up for it we bonded and got to send off the seniors with a good goodbye. We are excited for our next California trip and can’t wait to show the new members around. Stay tuned for our next California blog!
